ATLANTA (AP) Activists are planning a demonstration to protest Blue Cross Blue Shield's recent decision to no longer cover Grady Memorial Hospital.
State Sen. Vincent Fort, members of the Grady Coalition and others such as Sunshine's Angels of Mercy Children's Group plan to protest at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday near the Buckhead MARTA station on Peachtree Road.

WSB-TV reported that the Atlanta hospital and the insurance firm were unable to reach an agreement on rates.

Grady said the insurer is paying it far less than it pays other hospitals. Grady says payments that are too low threaten the hospital's ability to maintain adequate care.

Blue Cross Blue Shield says it has submitted multiple proposals offering an increase in the rates it pays the hospital.
Grady stressed that it will not turn people away.
