LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) Students at a DeKalb County elementary school will have classes at a nearby high school after their school suffered extensive damage in a weekend fire.
The DeKalb County School District has said that Fairington Elementary School students are to report to Miller Grove High School Tuesday.
Local news reports say DeKalb Fire and Rescue crews found smoke and flames coming from a Fairington classroom around 5 p.m. Saturday. Fire officials said that they are investigating the blaze as arson, given that it happened on a weekend when the school was empty.
District spokesman Quinn Hudson says a team of nearly 150 workers has worked since the fire to repair damage, but the school won't be ready by Tuesday. He didn't say when classes would resume at Fairington.
