BUFORD - Gwinnett County police have charged a Buford woman in the Thursday night shooting death of her husband.
Police Corporal Deon Washington said Olivia Annette Smith, 36, has been charged with the aggravated assault and felony murder of Cory Smith, 34.
Authorities were called to Preston Hills at Mill Creek Apartments on Buford Drive at 9:14 p.m., where Mr. Smith was found deceased.
Washington said the Smiths were in the process of a divorce; Cory had recently moved to the Mill Creek location. Washington added that a no-contact order was in place for the couple.
"The homicide investigation has revealed that there was an argument taking place between Olivia and Cory at Cory's apartment," Washington said. "At some point during the argument Olivia produced a firearm and shot Cory."
No reason for the argument was given.
Olivia Smith is be held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
