The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested one suspect wanted for burglary and criminal property damage in Dacula and Buford.
Detectives says on Thursday, September 12 at approximately 9:50 p.m., a suspect was seen attempting to open an ATM in the drive-thru of the Synovus Bank along the 3500 block Braselton Highway in Dacula. The suspect used a pair of bolt cutters and a large stone in an effort to defeat the ATM's locking mechanism. The bank's security features prevented the suspect from gaining access to the machine and alerted 911. Officers responded to the scene as the suspect fled on foot.
The previous night, the Verizon Wireless building on the 2600 block of Hamilton Mill Road in Buford was burglarized by the same suspect. Detectives were able to identify him as 19-year-old Abraham John Brownell of South Carolina. Officers were able to apprehend Abraham the next day near a bus stop on Hamilton Mill Road. Brownell was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Gwinnett County Jail, charged with burglary in the second degree, entering an automobile with intent to commit theft, and criminal damage to property in the second degree.
