SALUDA, S.C. (AP) Two Florida men are in custody in South Carolina charged with stealing 3,000 gallons of diesel fuel from convenience stores in four states.
Media outlets report that deputies in Saluda County in western South Carolina took the men into custody on April 1.
Authorities say that 48-year-old Cesar Jesus Caballero of Miami and 44-year-old Julio Cesar Fernandez of Hialeah, Florida, are charged in the case.
Authorities allege the two men took gas from stores in South Carolina as well as in Alabama, Georgia and Texas.
Deputies allege the two used a homemade device to divert the fuel after the pump was started in the store. It was not immediately known if the two men had attorneys.
