GAINESVILLE - Plans are in the works to change a northbound passing lane on Cleveland Highway at Jess Helton Road into a left-turn lane.
The project will involve a re-striping of the pavement and will take place, weather permitting, Tuesday between 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
“Part of the existing passing lane at Jess Helton Road will be removed and that space will become a left turn lane for people waiting to turn onto Jess Helton Road," said Brent Cook, Georgia DOT District Engineer serving Hall County.
The change will allow for through traffic to flow more efficiently along the corridor because it isn’t stopped waiting on left turners. The striping change will occur in one day. Signs are up now, alerting drivers that a change is coming to the area. No changes will be made to State Route 11 southbound."
