LAWRENCEVILLE - Police have arrested a Gwinnett County man after they say he starved and abused his dog.
Gary Cornelius Scott was seen walking a 2-year-old female Doberman Pinscher on Peachtree Corners Circle in the Norcross area last week. A police supervisor said she noticed the animal was malnourished and attempted to catch it. A police spokesman said the female dog had visible scars and blood on her abdomen.
Scott, 53, denied owning the dog and said he thought it belonged to a neighbor. The dog was taken into custody and animal control officials found she had a microchip and she was registered to Scott.
A veterinarian said the dog, named Pixie, weighed only 33 pounds.
Scott was charged Monday with aggravated cruelty to animals and giving a false address.
