OAKWOOD - The Oakwood City Council has given unanimous approval to new parking rules for residential areas of the city.
The new ordinance restricts parking in the front of single-family residences to 35-percent of the property. The new ordinance also has provisions for two more parking spaces in the side yard and back yard. It also prohibits parking on grassy areas and places restrictions on the parking of commercial or recreational vehicles.
Commissioners began discussing the parking issue several months ago when Mayor Lamar Scroggs pointed out how residential properties were becoming overcrowded with too many vehicles.
The second and final vote came at Monday's night's city council meeting, according to City Manager Stan Brown.
