CUMMING - One of two suspects in a Forsyth County home invasion in February is now in jail.
Deputy Robin Regan with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said 25-year-old Corey Waithe of Decatur is believed responsible for shooting and wounding a 70-year-old woman at her home on Magnolia Way and Pilgrim Mill Road earlier this year.
Waithe was caught after he was shot by a homeowner during a similar incident in Fulton County, according to Regan.
"Mr. Waithe has aggravated assault, aggravated battery and burglary charges in Forsyth County," said Regan.
Regan did not know the date of the Fulton County incident, but he said Forsyth County authorities had a chance to interview Waithe following that arresr and the interview led to the charges in their jurisdiction. Waithe is also believed responsible for similar crimes in Cobb County.
Regan said a woman believed to be Waithe's accomplice remains on the run. She has been identified as Samira Young, 28, of Decatur.
Regan said the victim of the home invasion in Forsyth County is doing well and continues to recover from a gunshot wound to her stomach.
