Employee injured in chemical fire at Forsyth County business

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A chemical fire at a business in South Forsyth County Thursday afternoon left an employee injured and shut down an area road for over an hour.

Forsyth County Fire Department officials said the fire was on Union Center Drive at the address of Wikoff Color near Alpharetta. Crews first arrived on scene around 1:15 p.m. and found the fire inside the business' warehouse.

The fire was extinguished, but one employee had to be airlifted from the scene to a nearby hospital. That person's status is not known at this time.

A social media post by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Union Center Drive was closed while officials worked the scene. It has since been re-opened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
