Officials vote to fire Ga. teacher accused of allowing sex in classroom

By Associated Press

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) Metro Atlanta school officials have voted to fire a teacher accused of letting students have sex in a storage closet in his classroom.

DeKalb County schools officials said Friday that a tribunal voted to affirm the superintendent's recommendation to fire 25-year-old Quentin Wright, who taught math at The Champion School in Stone Mountain.

A warrant says Wright arranged times with students when the classroom would be empty and gave them condoms. He's charged with four misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The investigation began after a woman said she found messages between Wright and her son.

The county's education board is expected to vote on the tribunal's recommendation Monday. District spokesman Quinn Hudson says the Professional Standards Commission, which issues and regulates teaching certificates, is investigating.
