Ice rink returning to Sugar Hill

By Tyler Nutt

SUGAR HILL - The city of Sugar Hill is moving forward with plans for the second season of its ice rink.

After negotiations, city officials have settled on plans for a 120 by 60 foot rink directly behind city hall.

The rink is scheduled to open on November 13 and operate through January 31. This year, the city is planning concerts, Throwback Thursdays at the Ice Rink, a Polar Express Night and Date Nights on Ice.

"Our residents raved about the ice rink last year so we are bringing it back by popular demand," Mayor Steve Edwards said.  "We are looking forward to a great turnout and some exciting events at the rink."

Over 15,000 skaters made use of the attraction last year, and the city expects more visitors this year.

In addition to the regular operating hours, the ice rink will be available for private rentals, corporate events, school events and reunions.

Kids Admission $8 and adult admission is $10. Children 4 and under are free but are not permitted to skate. To rent skates it costs an extra $2.
