A Boy Scout troop that has been up and running for less than a year is trying to recover from the theft of more than $10,000 worth of camping equipment from a private storage facility.
Atlanta television stations reported scouts with Troop 1109 in Cumming had worked for months to raise the money to buy the camping equipment, which they then stored at a private facility in Buford.
When Scout Leader Tim Gillon went to retrieve the trailer and equipment recently, everything had vanished.
"Part of scouting is overcoming adversity and they're learning to do that. This is a real-life lesson, unfortunately," Gillon told CBS 46.
Gillon said the scouts will "start from scratch," raising money to buy more equipment.
