Time is running out if you have some outdoor burning that you need to do before the annual ban on such fires kicks in in Hall and a number of other Georgia counties.
The ban begins next Sunday, May 1, and will be in place through the end of September.
Forsyth County is among the places recently issuing a reminder.
"The ban prohibits all outdoor burning including the burning of leaves, trash, yard debris and storm damage," a county press release states. "The Georgia Environmental Protection Division imposes this ban on outdoor burning to comply with Federal Clean Air Regulations."
The goal is to cut down on unhealthy ozone levels. "Open burning," the press release notes, "has been identified as a significant contributor of the pollutants that form ozone."
Hall and Forsyth are two of more than 50 counties where the burn ban will be in effect.
