Sandy Springs police seize 38 cats living in minivan

By Associated Press

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) Two women have been arrested after 38 cats were found living inside their minivan.

Sandy Springs police tell local media that a concerned citizen recently flagged down officers and informed them of a van filled with many cats.

Tom Poorman of Fulton County Animal Control says officers ended up finding 38 cats living inside the vehicle, including tiny, days-old kittens inside a cup holder. He says conditions in the minivan were filthy.

The women who own the minivan are mother and daughter. Police learned that the women had outstanding warrants and arrested them. They were also violating their probation by owning animals.

The 38 cats will eventually be up for adoption through the Fulton County Animal Shelter after receiving veterinary care.
