White County man dies in two-vehicle wreck

CLEVELAND — The Georgia State Patrol has released details of a fatal wreck that occurred in White County Saturday afternoon. 

The crash happened at 3:55 p.m. at 6787 Ga. 254, according to White County Dispatch. 

The two-vehicle wreck claimed the life of Jason Dale Pearson, 41, of Cleveland. Pearson was driving a 1996 Chevrolet truck on Ga. 254 when it collided with a tow truck, said Cpl. J.S. Munger of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville..

Pearson’s vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the tow truck in the left side, in the roll-back portion of the bed, Munger said.  
According to Munger, after impact, Pearson’s vehicle rotated counterclockwise and traveled off the north shoulder of Ga. 254, coming to an uncontrolled rest facing west. The area of impact was in the westbound lane of Ga. 254.

Munger said alcohol is suspected in the crash. No other injuries were reported. 

The accident shut down the roadway for a couple of hours, reopening at 6:22 p.m.
