Gas leak prompts evacuation of academic building at TMU

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

CLEVELAND — Students and faculty were evacuated from a building on the campus of Truett McConnell University Wednesday following a gas leak.

Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt said they were dispatched to the college just before 11 a.m.

The Miller Building on campus was evacuated for about an hour due to a gas leak in the science lab, Pruitt said.

When the fire department arrived, the gas was shut off, the area evacuated and secured. Fire personnel set up fans to assist in ventilating the building.

Pruitt said there were no injuries.
