The former warden of Phillips State Prison in Buford has been given a regional state prisons job in Georgia and Arrendale State Prison in Alto has a new deputy warden.
Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier said last week both promotions are effective January 1.
Ahmed Holt, the former Phillips warden, has been named Assistant Regional Director of the North Region for Facilities Operations. Holt will assist with the oversight and management of 16 prisons throughout the North Georgia Region.
Holt had been warden at Phillips the past three years. Dozier last week named Cedric Taylor to replace Holt at Phillips.
ARRENDALE STATE PRISON
Julie Yeargin, who has been Chief Counselor at Whitworth Women’s Facility, is the new Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment a Lee Arrendale State Prison. Yeargin will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of medical, mental health, education and counseling services of over 1,400 female prisoners.
Yeargin began her career with the GDC in 2013 as a Correctional Officer at Whitworth Women’s Facility. She was then promoted to Behavioral Health Counselor II in 2013 and Behavioral Health Counselor III in 2016. The following year Yeargin was promoted to Chief Counselor at Whitworth Women’s Facility, where she currently serves.
