The mother of a Gainesville Middle School student claims her son was assaulted by a teacher at the school.
The Gainesville City School System confirmed in an email statement that they are investigating the complaint.
"The Gainesville City School System is conducting an investigation along with the Gainesville Police Department regarding an alleged teacher assault on a student," the statement read. "The teacher has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is being completed."
The Gainesville Police Department confirmed the investigation, as well.
"The alleged incident is under investigation at this time. No charges have been filed," the department said via email.
Neither the school system or the police department identified the teacher, since no charges have been levied.
The mother said in an email to AccessWDUN that her son was pulled from the hallway into a classroom door on Wednesday, April 12. She said she took him to the ER because he complained about being sore.
She said her son is a student in a 6th grade class taught by the teacher.
