Former Union General Hospital CEO indicted in White County

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio
Former Union General Hospital CEO Dr. John Michael Gowder has been indicted in White County on 25 counts of fraudulently obtaining controlled substances in the county.

The White County Grand Jury returned the indictments this week and, according to Enotah Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jeff Langley, Gowder is alleged to have obtained fraudulent prescriptions from a doctor who worked at the Blairsville hospital and filled those prescriptions in White County.

Gowder previously had been indicted in Towns and Union counties on similar charges, some of those dating back to early last year.

The White County Grand Jury met this Tuesday and Wednesday and heard evidence in the cases, returning a total of 43 true bills of indictment.
