Three Forsyth County schools and Habersham theater group are among recipients of Vibrant Communities grants from the Georgia Council for the Arts.
They are Sharon Elementary School, DeSana Middle School, and Liberty Middle School, and the Habersham Community Theater.
Seventy-eight entities in 52 counties received nearly $300,000 in funding. The amount of each individual grant was not disclosed by the GCA.
The arts group received 100 applications from libraries, schools, arts centers, cities, historical societies, community theatres, Boys & Girls Clubs, and more. The Vibrant Communities Grant is available to organizations in counties that did not receive an FY19 Project, Partner, or Arts Education grant.
Following the National Endowment for the Arts precedent, the Georgia Council for the Arts used Peer Review Panels to adjudicate applications. These panels included fellow professionals who are experienced in the arts discipline or type of grant being reviewed; or are Georgia citizens with a record of involvement in arts activities, experience, and knowledge.
