Area basketball teams compete in North Georgia Showcase

It should be an interesting day of high school basketball Saturday in Dahlonega.

Adrian Penland Basketball will host the North Georgia Showcase at the University of North Georgia. It’s 16 high school basketball games set to tipoff at the new UNG Convocation Center and Memorial Hall. Games begin at 9:30 a.m.

Teams from Gwinnett, Hall, Dawson, Floyd, Forsyth, Lumpkin, Morgan, Newton, Rabun, White, Clarke and Banks counties will participate. 

“We have a lot of very interesting matchups,” Mario Mays said. “Me and Adrain wanted to bring some of the states top programs together and let them play in the North Georgia region of the state. We wanted to bring some of the states top programs together and let them play in the North Georgia region of the state. UNG has the best facility that I've seen, and it allows the high school teams to get a chance to play in a college atmosphere.”

2 p.m. Rabun County girls vs. North Forsyth
3:30 p.m. East Hall boys vs. Duluth
5 p.m. Lambert boys vs. Newton
6:30 p.m. Gainesville boys vs. Morgan County
8 p.m. Grayson boys vs. Mill Creek

Memorial Hall
9:30 a.m. Jefferson boys vs. Brookwood 
11 a.m. Jefferson girls vs. East Hall
12:30 p.m. White County boys vs. Lakeview Academy
2 p.m. White County girls vs. North Gwinnett
