When you get in a studio with four girls basketball coaches, there's no script needed.
That was the case when AccessWDUN invited Kristi House, Lindsay Justice, Shawana Harrison, and Courtney Newton-Gonzalez to talk about their Lanierland Tournament experiences on the eve of the 59th edition of the longest running high school tournament in Georgia.
The 2018 version is set to begin Thursday at Chestatee High School with eight games to determine the semifinals for both the boys and girls brackets.
House, Justice, Harrison, and Newton-Gonzalez all played in the tournament in their playing days and now lead teams into the tournament as head coaches. House is in her ninth season at North Hall as coach after playing for and graduating from North Hall in 1991. Newton-Gonzalez is in her fourth season at the helm of her alma mater, Flowery Branch, where she graduated in 2007. Justice, a 1997 North Hall grad, and Harrison, a 2004 Gainesville grad, are in their first seasons as head coaches, with Justice guiding Hall County's newest school, Cherokee Bluff, while Harrison has taken over at West Hall.
The four sat down with AccessWDUN's Bo Wilson and Jeff Hart to discuss, well, just about anything that came to mind concerning Lanierland.
