Hall County transportation officials have announced the closure of Hubert Stephens Road on April 30 as they get ready to replace the Hubert Stephens Road Bridge in north Hall County.
"The new bridge will replace the current structure, which needs to be replaced due to its age, according to a recent inspection by the Georgia Department of Transportation," said Hall County Engineer III Denise Farr in a press statement.
Farr said traffic will be rerouted to Wade Whelchel and Ben Parks roads as well as Highway 283 (Mount Vernon Road) for the duration of the closure.
Officials said the road will likely remain closed through the spring and summer months before reopening later this year ahead of the 2018-2019 school year.
