Gainesville High School announces alternate graduation plans in case of rain

By AccessWDUN Staff
Rainy weather can certainly ruin a celebration, but officials with the Gainesville City School System have a back-up plan should rain wash out Friday night's graduation ceremony at City Park.

Check out the alternate plan below, which was issued by school system officials Thursday morning:

Plan A:
May 25 @ 7:30 PM at City Park
If there is no threat of lightning or heavy downpours, graduation will continue even in light rain or showers. All reporting times for graduates will be the same.

Plan B:
May 26 at GHS Gymnasium
Graduation will be run in two sessions to maximize the number of family and friends who want to attend the ceremonies.

Session A: (Last Names A-K)
- Graduates report to the PAC at 9:30 AM
- Gym doors will open at 10:00 AM
- Ticket is required for everyone to enter. (This includes children carried by parents) (Tickets will be issued to students at graduation practice Friday morning)
- Graduation ceremonies begin at 11:00 AM

Session B: (Last Names L-Z)
- Graduates report to the PAC at 1:30 PM
- Gym doors will open at 2:00 PM
- Ticket is required for everyone to enter. (This includes children carried by parents) (Tickets will be issued to students at graduation practice Friday morning)
- Graduation ceremonies begin at 3:00 PM
