New schools in Gainesville, Hall County, Forsyth County highlight new school year

Each new school year brings with it new students and new teachers, but, this year, there's something else in Gainesville, Hall County, and Forsyth County:  new schools.

Gainesville is re-opening Enota Elementary, featuring a completely new - from the ground up - facility on the site of the old school.   Superintendent Jeremy Williams says he expects a small increase in enrollment at Enota with the school's reopening and the city's restructured attendance zones. 

Hall County, meanwhile, will be opening two new schools - Cherokee Bluff Middle School and Cherokee Bluff High School.  Both will be located in the building formerly occupied by Flowery Branch High.

And, in Forsyth County, the new schools are Denmark High and Alliance Academy for Innovation.

Here is a system-by-system look at opening dates and what's new in each system, as well as opening dates for the private schools in Hall County:

*Banks County

Removal of modular classrooms at Centennial Arts Academy and Gainesville Exploration Academy

Major renovation projects this summer at both Hazel Grove and Woodville Elementary Schools. Both schools have received new kitchens, cafeterias, and classrooms. Clarkesville Elementary school received a new roof this summer.

The district is adding two new schools this year: Cherokee Bluff Middle School and Cherokee Bluff High School, though they will not occupy newly-constructed facilities.  

"Cherokee Bluff Middle and High School will be in the building formerly occupied by Flowery Branch High School.  Flowery Branch High School is returning home to their previous building off Hog Mountain Road formerly occupied by Davis Middle School.  Davis Middle School is returning home to their previous building off Hog Mountain Road formerly occupied by South Hall Middle School.  And finally, South Hall Middle School is returning home to their newly renovated and two-story building Academies of Discovery at South Hall off of Poplar Springs Road." - Kevin Bales, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, Hall County School System
