CLEVELAND — The White County Sheriff’s Office today released some details about a shooting death that occurred in the county on Aug. 15.

About 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, deputies were dispatched to a home on Oglethorpe Lane regarding a person who had been shot, according to White County Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Kelley.

Kelley said deputies arrived on scene and located 31-year-old Joshua Wayne Tench dead at the scene.

Tench had been shot in the chest with a shotgun, according to Kelley.

Ronnie Elywnn Pate, 60, also was at the scene.

Pate and Tench both lived in a camper at that location, according to Kelley, who identified Pate as the boyfriend of Joshua Tench’s mother.

The victim and Pate were involved in an argument and that is when Pate shot Tench with a shotgun, according to Kelley. The argument started over a drink Tench had purchased at a convenience store.

Pate was arrested and has been charged with Murder.

White County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are continuing their investigation of the case.
