Hall County businessman plans haunted trail, family hayride attraction off Friendship Road

By B.J. Williams
If all goes as planned with the Hall County Commission, a new fall attraction will be ready to go by next month in the South Hall area.

The Hall County Planning Commission approved a request at its meeting last week for a haunted trail and hayride to set up on a 37-acre tract of land on Friendship Circle, which is located off Friendship Road.

Matt Miller is the developer of what he called the "trail of terror."

"The trail will be a quarter mile long and we'll be taking guests through the trail in groups of 10," Miller said. "Then, we'll have a haunted hayride that will be on the other side of the business for little kids and families."

Miller told the planning board that he planned to operate the attraction for about six weeks, from Sept. 21 through Oct. 31. He said while there are corn mazes and other fall businesses in the area, his would fill a niche that's open.

"I went to West Hall High School and we always had to drive to Atlanta. We had to drive so far to go to an attraction like this and I just feel like having something in our area would be really, really cool to where people wouldn't have to commute, drive a far distance to get the Halloween fun that everybody seeks," Miller said.

Miller assured the board he would have adequate security.

He said he would hire between 20 and 30 people to run the attraction.

The Hall County Commission takes up the special use request at its meeting on Sept. 13.
