A 27-year-old woman from Cumming has died after suffering injuries in a two-vehicle car accident this week.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) said the accident happened Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 7:42 p.m. on SR 20 at the northbound entrance ramp to Georgia 400.

"The investigation at this point has established that a 2007 Honda Odyssey, operated by 32-year-old Vayid Dzhakhidov of Cumming, Ga., was traveling west on Buford Highway approaching the intersection with the Ga. 400 northbound entrance ramp,"  said FCSO Cpl. Doug Rainwater in a press statement. "The Odyssey was also occupied by a front seat passenger 26-year-old Arzu Mirbaeva, the wife of Mr. Dzhakhidov."

Rainwater said a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, operated by 27 year-old Jordan Banasiak of Cumming, turned left from eastbound Buford Highway in an attempt to enter Georgia 400 on the northbound ramp.

The two vehicles collided.

Rainwater said Banasiak was taken to the hospital, but she died on Thursday, Jan. 3 as the result of injuries she suffered in the accident.

Dzhakhidov and Mirbaeva were taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, according to Rainwater.
