HOMER — Lumpkin County snapped a two-game losing streak and stunned Class 2A No. 4 Banks County in an 85-67 win on the road Friday night.
It was also the first loss of the season for the Leopards (8-1) who had won their last six games by an average of 23 points.
The Indians (5-8) led almost from the outset jumping out to a 20-12 advantage by the end of the first quarter. They increased the lead to 37-26 by halftime and led 55-42 heading into the final period. The Lumpin offense exploded for 30 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory.
Jacob Cumbie led the way for Lumpkin County with 27 points and 7 rebounds. Gus Faulkner added 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists for the Indians. Patrick Jackson recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Peyton Polk had 14 points and 8 rebounds.
Carl Cleveland paced Banks County with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists while Sawyer Pace added 17 points. Dakota Orr had 8 points and 10 rebounds for the Leopards.
Banks County was held to just 11-of-40 from the 3-point range with Cleveland going just 1-of-9 from behind the arc for the game.

The Bulldogs outscored the Falcons 35-14 in the second half to blow open a close game at the half.
Flowery Branch (0-14) trailed just 13-7 at the end of the first quarter and pulled within 2018 by halftime. But Forsyth Central (6-7) used a 21-10 third quarter to open up a double-digit lead and put the game away in the fourth quarter holding the Falcons to just 4 points.
Ripley Kurtz had 17 points and Anthony Reveto 16 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Judson Burney scored 11 points and Trevor Gurske had 10 points for Flowery Branch.
NORTH HALL 44,
HABERSHAM CENTRAL 32
Cole Ellis scored 9 points and Clark Howell had 8 to lead the Trojans past Habersham Central (5-8) at home on Friday.
Luke Gunter and Brock Cooper added 7 points each in the win.
The Trojans (9-3) trailed 10-6 after the first quarter but a 15 point second quarter gave them a 21-12 advantage at halftime. North Hall extended its lead to 36-19 after three quarters.
Malaki Dooley and Grayson Adams led the Raiders with 9 points each.
