Tennis: North Hall girls beat GHS; boys lose; JHS girls get region win

The North Hall girls tennis team won its 10th match of the season with a 5-0 win over Gainesville Wednesday at home.  

In singles action, Anna Montgomery defeated Hanna Williams 8-2. Baylee Turner blanked Grace O’Keefe, 8-0 and Lauren Davis shutout Avery Vlassis, 8-0.

In doubles play, Sydney Patterson and Raquel Kallab defeated Callie Patterson and Grayson Wagner, 8-1 and Ella Oxley and Cailin Cooper also won 8-1. 

On the boy's side, the Red Elephants beat the Trojans, 4-1. 

Philip Mady, Dylan Pineda and Ben Burns swept the singles action for Gainesville. Mathew Carter and Luke Griffin picked up the lone doubles win for the Red Elephants.

North Hall's Kody Dills and Jonathan Elder won the only match of the day for the Trojans, 8-6. 

North Hall will be back in Region 7-3A play Thursday against Dawson County at home. The match will begin at 4 p.m.

Gainesville will host Johnson in a non-region battle tomorrow at home. Matches begin at 4 p.m.

The Lady Knights tooks a big Region 8-5A win on Wednesday.

Johnson swept the doubles got a pair of singles wins.

In the singles action, Anna Cooper got a win at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory and Haley Grimes took a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 3. 

In the doubles, the No. 1 team of Zoey Blankenship and Beth Odum won 6-4, 6-0 and the No. 2 team of Grace VanHooser and Viviana Medina won 6-1, 7-5.

The Lady Knights next will travel to Gainesville on Thursday.
