New scholarship honors retiring Gainesville City Schools official

By AccessWDUN Staff

Jerry Castleberry, the Transportation Director for the Gainesville City School System, is retiring after a 24-year career with the system, and in recognition of his service a scholarship in his name has been established.

The Jerry Castleberry Road Scholarship will award funds to a graduating Gainesville High School senior who seeks a career in logistics, public service, or a cause "close to (Castleberry's)  heart."

The public is being invited to help fund the scholarship.

A posting in the latest edition of the GCSS newsletter states  "The community has an opportunity to invest in the scholarship fund, and interested donors can make their tax-deductible contributions payable to 'Gainesville High School' and mail to Gainesville High School, 830 Century Place NW, Gainesville, Georgia.  Please state 'Castleberry Road Scholar' on the check memo line."
