The Gainesville City School System honored the 2023-2024 recipients of the Teacher of the Year award at their board meeting last night.
The nine recipients were chosen by each city school throughout the system. Eight of the winner’s will receive $500 courtesy of the Doug and Kay Ivester Foundation for the honor.
Mundy Mill Art’s Academy fourth grade teacher Ana Hortman was selected as the District Teacher of the Year and will receive a $10,000 award.

- Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy — Rhonda Moss
- Fair Street International Academy — Courtney Jones
- Gainesville Exploration Academy — Noelle Martin
- Mundy Mill Arts Academy — Ana Hortman
- New Holland Leadership Academy — DeAnna Stovall
- Gainesville Middle School East — Hannah Reaume
- Gainesville Middle School West — Jennifer Pendleton
- Gainesville High School — Sandra Claxton
"For those of us who started off in the classroom, it's great to see the impact that our teachers today are making just couldn't be more proud of them,” said Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Williams.
