A rezoning to allow for a 200-lot subdivision on McEver Road was tabled by the Flowery Branch City Council Thursday.

The neighborhood would sit on the south side of McEver Road across from Paradise Point Road. City Manager Bill Andrew said the applicant, Caballero Holdings, LLC, sent a letter to the city before the council's meeting asking for the request to be tabled.

The city council also voted to postpone the public hearing on the rezoning, but several spoke on the project in the meeting's regular public comment period. Three people spoke against the development, with most of the concerns being about traffic on McEver Road and the city as a whole.

"I know Spout Springs (Road) is going to get widened, but that only cures so much," Resident Robert Byrd said. "With all the congestion and everything going around, I worry about the sustainability of the community as a whole."

City Planning Director Rich Atkinson said the developers are also building another neighborhood in the area.

"They use different names for different projects, (Caballero Holdings) is actually the same group that developed the Connor Property," Atkinson said.

The rezoning request is now set to be voted on at the council's June 20 meeting. A public hearing will also be scheduled for that meeting.
