Three teenagers from Hall County were arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle and then fleeing on foot in Flowery Branch.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer B.J. Williams said the incident started around 2:45 p.m. when a deputy was doing speed detection on Spout Springs Road near Forest Knoll Drive and saw a silver Kia car going at high speeds in the westbound lanes of Spout Springs Road.
The deputy tried to pull the Kia over, and it turned into the parking lot of Light of the World Church near Hog Mountain Road.
"(The driver) never even stopped. The vehicle slowed, and as it slowed, all three occupants, the driver and two passengers, jumped from that moving vehicle and ran from the scene," Williams said.
That started a chase and search involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including police officers from Flowery Branch and Oakwood and the Georgia State Patrol. Williams said the three teens were caught and arrested within 30 minutes.
Two of the suspects, including the driver of the car, are 16 years old from Flowery Branch according to the sheriff's office. They are both facing obstruction charges, with the driver also facing charges of speeding and theft by receiving. Their names have not been released.
The third suspect was identified as Fhilip Andres Duran, age 17 of Gainesville. He also faces an obstruction charge.
During the investigation, authorities reportedly learned that the car had been stolen in Gainesville earlier that day. Williams said the vehicle was not damaged during the incident and it has since been returned to its owner.
