After just 15 months on the job, Nikki Perry has left the post of Gainesville's Communications and Tourism Director.
City Manager Bryan Lackey said Perry submitted her resignation at the end of June, expressing her desire to pursue a career as an independent contractor for communications and marketing.
In a recent memo to Gainesville City Council, Lackey praised Perry for her work since April 2018.
"I am very appreciative of the challenging initiatives she undertook that include the transition from cable TV to social media/digital video production, expanding the boundaries of the Main Street program to allow more businesses to take advantage of the program, refocusing the Gainesville Convention and Visitors Bureau efforts to capitalize on the tourism impact of Lake Lanier, establishing new City branding (blue & green waves) for a fresh, modern look and overseeing the implementation of the Highland to Islands Trail signage," Lackey wrote.
Lackey said he has been evaluating the organizational structure of the city's tourism department and he hopes to advertise the open position in the near future.
