Police Chief: Cleveland water main break caused by juveniles

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

A weekend water main break that resulted in a large section of Cleveland’s west side being placed under a boil water advisory now is being blamed on some juveniles who were throwing large rocks at a water pipe.

"We located some juveniles this afternoon that were involved,”"Cleveland Police Chief John Foster said Monday night. "Right now, we are still gathering information, but we do know who is involved."

The broken main was located on Campbell Street at Head Street. According to Foster, a witness saw the young people throwing the rocks.

Foster said police are not sure yet how many juveniles were involved.

The incident happened Saturday, Feb. 1,  according to city officials, and the damage to the six-inch water main led to a boil water advisory that lasted from Saturday evening to Monday morning.
