COMMERCE — The Riverside Military Academy boys assured themselves a spot in the Class A-Private tournament on Monday at Commerce High School.
The Eagles fought off a feisty Towns County in a 65-49 win to clinch the Region 8-A championship. The title win gives the Eagles an automatic bid to the state playoffs.
Shad Dabney led the Eagles, again, with 22 points. He was one of three players in double figures. Bryce Klacynski added 12 points, and Tyler Gilchrist had 10.
In total, the Eagles had eight players in the scoring column.
RMA to a 15-13 first-quarter lead and led 26-23 at the half.
Gilchrist scored 8 of his 10 points in the third quarter, helping the Eagles to a 45-37 advantage after the third quarter.
Kolby Moss led the Indians with 18 points, and Kyle Oakes had 9.

Joelle Snyder scored 16 points to lead the Lady Lions in the loss to No. 2-ranked Hebron Christian in the Region 8-A championship on Monday at Commerce.
Elise Roark had 10 points and 6 rebounds, Maddy Towles scored 8 points and 6 rebounds, Eliza Snyder added 7 points, 7 rebounds and Ellie Kate Madonna had 4 points.
Lakeview (21-7) will wait for their seeding in the Class A-Private tournament later this week.
