A pedestrian was struck and killed by a passenger vehicle in Barrow County early Thursday morning, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Troopers with Post 32 in Athens were called to the scene of the incident on Atlanta Highway near Statham at 6 a.m.
According to the GSP report, a Chrysler 200 sedan traveling eastbound, driven by Michael Jack Casper of Statham struck Yusuf Kaider Husein of Statham. Husein was walking eastbound on Atlanta Highway when he was hit. Husein died as the result of injuries he sustained.
The roadway was closed for more than two hours while the investigation was underway.
The Georgia State Patrol did not indicate if charges would be filed against Casper.
