Barrow County judge honored for exemplary leadership

The State of Georgia Magistrate Court Training Council recently honored a Barrow County Chief Magistrate judge for exemplary leadership on the council’s mentor committee.

Judge Caroline Evans has served as Chairman of the Magistrate Court Council for Georgia’s Mentor Committee for the past four years, recently stepping down to serve a new chairmanship on a committee to prepare judges for trials and hearings.

Judge Evans says in a press release, “It is truly an honor to receive this award from the council. My four years as Chairman were a rewarding experience, and it truly allowed me to get to know courts not only in our region but across the state.

The council requires all judges to complete a mentorship program within the first 12 months of taking office.  Evans was charged with assigning a mentor judge to all newly elected or appointed judges, in her role as chairman.

“It was no small task coordinating with judges and court systems across the state, but seeing the results of powerful and effective mentorship is a truly rewarding experience – and one that only makes our judicial branch stronger,” said Evans.

Judge Evans received the honor on Monday, October 7.
