A 19-year-old Suwanee man is facing charges after he allegedly vandalized a church in Forsyth County early Monday morning.
Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Stacie A. Miller confirmed the arrest of Banks Chancellor.
Miller said a deputy was driving by St. Columba Episcopal Church at 939 James Burgess Road around 4 a.m. on April 27 when he noticed a silhouette of someone standing in front of office trailers located behind the church sanctuary.
"As he pulled in, the trailer light shut off," Miller said in an email statement. "He observed damage to the windows of the office trailer."
When the deputy approached, the person ran from the trailer.
"A brief foot chase ensued into the wood line where the subject was taken into custody. He was identified as 19-year-old Banks Chancellor," Miller said.
Miller said three of the four trailers outside the church had been entered and damaged. The amount of the damage was unavailable.
Chancellor was charged with second degree burglary-forced, vandalism to a place of worship, criminal damage to property and obstruction of law enforcement officers.
Chancellor was booked into the Forsyth County Jail on a $23,505 bond.
