A Clayton man remains jailed in Rabun County, charged with first-degree vehicular homicide after a fatal hit-and-run wreck earlier this month.
Chantz Rock Ramey, 24, was arrested Friday on the felony charge, Rabun County Detention Center records show.
Other charges against Ramey will be forthcoming as the investigation by Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa, GSP Troop B Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, and the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office continues, said Sgt. C.J. Coffee of GSP Post 7.
Just after 5 a.m. on Aug. 8, a red Ford F-150 driven by Ramey was traveling north on Main Street/Old 441 near Dunlap Street, Clayton, and struck Mario Webb, 26, of Clayton, a pedestrian who was attempting to cross Main Street, Coffee said.
“Mr. Webb was struck by the Ford F-150 driven by Mr. Ramey,” Coffee said. “Mr. Ramey and his vehicle left the scene of the crash. Mr. Webb received fatal injuries in the crash.”
