By AccessWDUN Staff

A Gainesville man, identified as 55-year-old Hoyt Albert Cleveland, was killed Sunday afternoon when his vehicle crashed in Jackson County.

The Georgia State Patrol said troopers from Athens Post 32 were called to the crash site on State Route 60 near Ward Road around 12:10 p.m. Sunday.

"The vehicle was traveling north on SR 60," said SFC Timothy Meyer in an email statement. "The vehicle crossed the center line and then left the roadway to the left....the vehicle traveled in a ditch before striking a culvert at a driveway. The vehicle then left the ditch, struck a stop sign and began to overturn."

Meyer said Cleveland was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and was ejected from his vehicle.

Cleveland died at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to the GSP report.
