Annual burn ban to start tomorrow in Hall, 53 other counties

Beginning Saturday, May 1, Hall County will become one of dozens of Georgia counties under an open burn ban.

Under the ban, citizens will be prohibited from burning yards and land-clearing debris as well as household garbage.

The open burn ban has been put in place by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division annually since 2005 in an effort to improve the State of Georgia’s air quality, according to a release from Hall County Fire Services. The ban will last until October.

Recreational fires, including those for campfires and grilling, are exempt from the burn ban.

Hall County is one of 54 Georgia counties affected by the ban.
