The Jackson Electric Membership Corporation’s Board of Directors has adopted a resolution honoring linemen for their hard work over the last year.
The resolution passed by the Board honors April 12, 2021, already known on a broader scale as National Lineman Appreciation Day, as “Jackson EMC Lineman Appreciation Day.” The resolution acknowledges the “creativity, adaptability, dedication and professionalism of the corporation’s linemen during the recent challenges.”
According to a release from Jackson EMC, the resolution was passed in recognition of the exceptional member service provided by Jackson EMC linemen while working under modified conditions due to COVID-19. The resolution also honors the hard work of linemen in the aftermath of October’s Tropical Storm Zeta and their efforts to restore power to thousands of members affected by the storm.
“We are tremendously proud of the work done by our linemen,” Jackson EMC President/CEO Chip Jakins said in the release. “They work around the clock in dangerous conditions to keep power flowing to our members and protect the public’s safety. Our linemen, as well as those across the nation, truly deserve this special day of recognition, and I invite our members to take a moment to thank a lineman to show their support.”
To further express appreciation for linemen, Jackson EMC is encouraging members to share stories or words of thanks to their linemen on social media throughout the month of April. The cooperative said members can create sidewalk art honoring linemen and share their drawings on social media with the hashtags #ChalkItUpToLinemen, #ThankALineman and #JacksonEMC.
