GAINESVILLE — Lakeview Academy rallied from a pair of early deficits to eventually roll to a 12-3 win over Pinecrest Academy on Tuesday in Region 6-A Private action.
The Lions trailed 1-0 before scoring two runs in the bottom of the first but fell behind again, 3-2, after Pinecrest plated two runs in the third. Lakeview tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third but exploded over the final three innings.
Lakeview scored two runs in the fourth, four in the fifth, and three more in the sixth to pull away.
Jesse Whiting paced the Lions with three hits, including a triple, drove in two runs and scored three times. Jake Hannon and Hunter Allen each had two hits and two RBI and Parker Allen scored three times after being hit twice in the game.
Tanner Allen went four innings allowing three runs on five hits and struck out eight. Skyler Thellman pitched a scoreless fifth with three strikeouts and Conley Millwood pitched the final two innings allowing just one hit and fanning three.
The Lions next will travel to Pinecrest on Tuesday.
