Authorities searching for Buford woman in Forsyth County fraud case

By AccessWDUN Staff

Authorities are searching for a Buford woman wanted in connection with a Forsyth County insurance fraud and forgery case.

According to a press release from the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire, warrants were issued on June 24 for Michelle Leigh Desjardins, 41, for one count of insurance fraud and one count of forgery in the first degree.

The release alleges Desjardins initiated an Accidental Medical Policy claim for the maximum limit of $10,000. An investigation found that the medical documents had allegedly been altered, and pages were removed to show that the incident took place at a later date than hospital records show.

"Fraud drives up insurance rates for all Georgians, and I am committed to bringing criminals like this to justice," Commissioner John F. King said in a prepared statement.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division's warrant line at 404-463-6363,
