By AccessWDUN staff

A woman was killed in a head-on traffic in Commerce Monday morning, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

SFC Timothy Meyer said troopers from GSP Athens Post 32 were called to investigate the crash on Homer Road near Cedar Drive in Commerce at 11:02 a.m.

"Troopers were notified enroute that one of the drivers was deceased and another had serious injuries," Meyer said in an email statement.

"The investigation determined that a silver Chevy Impala was traveling north on Homer Road when it crossed into the southbound lane and struck a grey KIA Soul which was traveling south. The vehicles collided head-on," Meyer said.

The driver of the Impala, a 44-year-old Commerce woman, died at the scene. The driver of the KIA Soul suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. A 15-year-old girl, a passenger in the KIA, was also taken to NGMC with unknown injuries.

The names of those involved in the crash are being withheld at this time.
