Free Habersham E-9-1-1 Children's Fun Fest set Thursday night in Clarkesville

Thousands of people from across North Georgia are expected to join the fun at the Habersham County Fairgrounds near Clarkesville on Thursday, Oct. 20.

In its 15th year, Habersham E-9-1-1 Children’s Fun Festival is organized by dispatchers at Habersham County E-9-1-1 so they can meet and give back to the community they serve, while providing important safety information.

Again this year, the free event will feature trunk or treat, hayrides, helicopters, wrestling exhibitions, interactive exhibits, public safety personnel, and more.

Children and their parents will be able to visit booths inside the Dewey H. Tench Market Pavilion at the fairgrounds, where they can talk with firefighters, law enforcement personnel, 9-1-1 dispatchers, paramedics, and others.

Costumes are welcome, and families are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Children will have opportunities to check out emergency vehicles, as well as visiting with mascots and public safety personnel.

All attractions are subject to change due to availability and weather conditions.

Parking will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot on the Little League side of the fairgrounds complex. Gates open at 5 p.m. and close at 8. No early admission allowed.

The Habersham County Fairgrounds complex is located at 4235 Toccoa Highway, Clarkesville.

Attendance generally runs around 5,000 to 6,000 people, but has reached as high as 8,500.
