Two people killed in Friday night's multi-vehicle accident on Ga. 316

The serious vehicle accident that shut down Ga. 316 westbound between Ga. 53 and Jackson Trail Road on Friday night led to two fatalities.
 
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a Buick Enclave was traveling north on Ga. 316 when the driver failed to yield as they crossed Jackson Trail Road. The Buick hit a GMC Sierra that was traveling east on Ga. 316. This caused the Buick to rotate and hit a Chevy Tahoe that was traveling east in the inside lane. The GMC Sierra also struck a Dodge ram pick-up truck that was also traveling east on Ga. 316.
 
The Buick driver and a juvenile died as a result of their injuries, and two other juvenile passengers from the Buick were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the GMC Sierra was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
 
Both the Chevy Tahoe driver and the Dodge ram pick-up driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Dodge ram driver was treated for injuries and was released on the scene, while the Chevy Tahoe driver was transported to a regional medical center.
 
The GSP has not released the names or ages of those involved. The crash remains under investigation.

A serious vehicle accident on Ga. 316 westbound Friday afternoon shut down the highway between Ga. 53 and Jackson Trail Road. Details are limited at this time, but authorities said the accident caused serious injuries. The westbound lanes at Jackson Trail Road remain closed, and Barrow County Emergency Services advises drivers to take an alternate route.
